Miss Abby Emmett is a very religious woman and an amazing teacher’s aid. Abby is an active member in the church; she goes to confession every other week and also attends adoration and a bible study group. She is a part of the discipleship missionaries, which is a student focus to help learn to become disciples of Christ.
The Job
I asked her why she wanted to work here at the school and she said that she is going to be an education major at East Central College and thought being a teacher’s aid would be a good experience.
To help out around the school and help the students, she said she does a lot to help the teachers prep for class and will read to the students. She is also the Specials teacher for the preschoolers, which means she helps with activities like physical education and art class.
She said her favorite things about the job are that she loved how much the kids are excited to learn because almost everything is new to them. She also said that it’s cool when she teaches a lesson and the subject just clicks for the kids because that means she helped them understand it.
Family
I asked about her family. Her mom (Mrs. Emmett) actually works here at the school as a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade religion teacher. She also has a brother named Ian who she’s seen grow in his faith through our church’s youth group.
Hobbies and Favorites
She said her favorite food is green bean casserole and her favorite dessert is anything peanut butter chocolate or Reese’s ice cream. Her hobbies include photography, hiking, scrapbooking, spending time with God, and hanging out with her friends and family. She said she loves watching Gilmore Girls with her dad.
Writer’s Thoughts:
As a student of the school who often sees Miss Emmett and how happy the kids are around her, I believe that she will be a great teacher someday.
