Here is a guide to the basics of Clash Royale! I’ll also talk about monthly updates to the game. This is wonderfully written by Griffen S.
Clash Royale is a mobile or computer game designed for you to have FUNNNN. It’s an offensive/defensive tower game set in medieval times. The objective of this game is to win battles. When you win battles, you get trophies and the more trophies you get, the further you can advance into the game.

Trophies
Trophies are a resource you need to advance higher in Clash Royale. You get trophies by winning battles. To win battles, you need to have troops to destroy the enemy towers. If you destroy an enemy tower before the game ends, you win! You play against real people around the world.
Each game is three minutes long and if no towers get destroyed by time, you go into a two – minute overtime, when there are 60 seconds left of overtime you get triple elixir. this means three times the elixir generates into the elixir bar. If no towers get destroyed in over time there is sudden death, which takes all towers and lowers the health down every second, sort of like poison until one is destroyed, and that determines the winner!
After you win you will earn trophies. Your trophies build after every win, but you can lose trophies. You can lose trophies by losing battles; this isn’t necessarily bad unless you lose repeatedly. You will always go against someone around the same amount of trophies as you.

Arenas
Arenas are like checkpoints. After winning and getting a certain amount of trophies, you can get into new arenas. When you get to them, you can’t fall behind the checkpoint. After making it to a checkpoint, you can unlock new cards and possible buildings or spells. And there are small rewards in arenas like gold, troops, or even gems.

Card Level Mastery and Levels (Cards are troops, buildings, and spells)
All cards have levels, and all of the cards start out at level 1, except for the rarer troops. All upgrades start out cheap and progressively get more expensive the higher level of the card!
Card mastery is a feature in Clash Royale that rewards players for completing certain actions with cards in battle. It functions similarly to the former quests and achievements features. Depending on the task, players can duplicate Cards, Gold, Wild cards, and Gems.

Rarity
Common rarity, Uncommon rarity, Rare rarity, Epic rarity, Legendary rarity, and lastly Champion rarity. Common rarity cards start at level one. Rare rarity cards start at level three. Epic rarity cards start at level six. Legendary rarity cards start at level nine. Champion rarity cards start at level 11, and all cards can level up to 15.

Resources
Elixir is a primary resource used to deploy troops, place buildings, or even cast spells. When you get elixir, there is an elixir cost on the troops. If you want to spawn in a giant you need five elixir, and the max elixir you can have at a time is 10. One way you can get elixir is by waiting. It will slowly fill your bar to 10 over time. Some are expensive and some are cheap. The most expensive troop in the game is 9 elixir, and the cheapest troop is 1 elixir.

Gold coins are a resource that is really easy to acquire, (you can get gold from chests, leveling up cards, etc…) you can only have 5 million gold, but leveling up cards and buying your daily rewards from the shop isn’t cheap. So players won’t really have 5 million for a long time.

Gems are a resource in clash royale that you can use to spend in the shop. You can earn gems from getting chests and leveling your cards. Gems are one of the more rare resources, and you can buy chests in shops, or emotes. Every 24 hours, the shop resets along with your daily rewards, and you can spend gold coins to access them.

Elite and Normal Wild Cards
Wild cards are a resource used for upgradings any card of the wild card’s rarity. A wild card has a chance to be one of these rarities; Including Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Champion. Elite wild cards are cards used to upgrade level 14 cards to level 15. (Supercell is going to be removing these Elite wild cards on November 24.) You need 50,000 Elite Wild Cards to upgrade level 14 cards.

Evolution Shards
Not all cards have evolutions. The cards that have evolutions need to have six Evolution shards put into the card first. After putting six evolution shards into the card, they will get a special ability. To get to your Evolution card in battle, there is a certain amount of cycles needed to place the Evolution card. Say it was a 1 cycle Evolution card. You would need to deploy the troop, place the building or cast the spell 1 time normally before using the evolution card.

Cosmetic Items
Emotes are an accessible item through chests and Clash Royale’s daily shop. You can use emotes to show your emotions during battles. (Angry, sad, happy, excited, etc…) Battle banners are accessible items through pass royale, chests, getting a certain card level mastery, and Clash Royale shop. They can show off your mastery level on your cards or badges. They also show how many trophies you have.

Chests
Chests are an easily accessible reward you get from daily wins, acquiring a reward in arenas, or even buying them from the shop for gems. They can give you Cards, Gold, Gems, Wild cards, Elite Wild cards, Book of Books, Cook of cards, Cosmetic items, and Evolution shards.

Book of Books and Book of Cards
Book of Books is a resource used to upgrade any rarity of card up by one. Book of Cards, used to upgrade a certain rarity based on the rarity of the Book of Cards, raises the level on the card up by one.

All November Changes
Supercell, the creator of Clash Royale, implements changes (called Balance Changes) every month. Supercell makes these changes because the cards need to be balanced. This makes Clash Royale a fair game and not completely one-sided. I will talk about this month’s Buffs (upgrades of a feature) and Nerfs (downgrades of a feature).
Nerf One
The Goblin hut is a defense/maneuvering card that spawns goblins used to defend massive damage dealing cards such as Pekka, (a massive damage dealing card that uses a sword against other troops) and Giant, (a massive health troop that is used to deflect all damage so other troops can attack without getting destroyed). The nerf made goblin huts spawn speed from 1.9 → 2.1 seconds per Goblin.

Nerf Two
Elixir collector is a card used to collect elixir (a primary resource used to deploy troops or buildings onto the arena) over time. This card was nerfed due to another troop in CR, (Clash Royale) and its production time for elixir is now 13 seconds instead of 12 seconds. Also its lifetime was added from one minute and 26 seconds to one minute and 33 seconds.

Nerf Three
Wall breakers, Normal, and Evo (evolution) wall breakers are big damage dealing cards that target buildings. On impact, it explodes and does a lot of damage. It went from 391 damage on impact →350 damage. Also its Evo form when it explodes, and skeletons with bombs explode the building/tower even more.

Nerf Four
Evo Royal Ghost is a card that when not in combat after three seconds, goes invisible to anything until swinging its sword at something. When it swings it spawns two minions identical to itself, and falling from the air on impact causes area damage. The Evo Royal Ghost got nerfed to where the area damage is reduced by almost 50% (261 → 133 area damage)

Buffs
Buff One
Rascals, this card is used to counter all the big health and big damage dealing cards. With the boy up front that uses his fists to hit and the two girls with slingshots behind the boy do a lot of damage while the boy takes the hits. This card was buffed instead of the boy doing 204 damage → 217 damage per hit.

Buff Two
Phoenix, a card that pecks at troops or buildings or towers to do damage. When the phoenix is destroyed it drops an egg, if the egg is not destroyed in time a smaller phoenix will rise out of the egg. This respawned phoenix does have no differences from the normal one besides. How much damage it does and its health.
Supercell buffed the smaller phoenix, so now instead of it doing 174 damage, it now does 217 damage. And its health when up from Health 842 → 1052 Health

Buff Three
Spirit Empress, a legendary rarity card that has a wand of magic. When swung, it sends out a blue ball to hit targets. The spirit Empress rides on a magic blue dragon, which you can choose if you want to make her be on the dragon or not. They buffed the ground troop version of spirit empress to where its health went up from 1134 → 1244 health.

Buff Four
Little Prince, is a Champion rarity card. Every champion has an ability. When the little prince uses his ability it thrusts forward a guardian out of thin air and does area damage if there are troops nearby. This guardian does damage by swinging a sword to protect the prince. They buffed the guardian to where he swings with more damage. 202 damage → 217.

Buff Five
Goblin Drill evolution, an epic rarity card to where when you want to place a goblin drill it drills underground to where you place it and does area damage when it comes up from the ground and spawns goblins to stab the towers. They buffed this card to where instead of the drill spawning one goblin on impact it now spawns two.

This is the end … for now! I will be working on December’s changes, so read that one, too!
