Hello again! If you haven’t seen my first or second article please check them out. Today we’ll be looking at held items, STAB, moves, and SP (special) stats vs. Physical stats.
Held Items
Held Items are items that Pokemon can hold that do different things. Examples include Muscle Band, which increases attack, or Bright Powder, which makes opposing Pokemon have a higher chance to miss. There are a bunch of different items that do many different things using them correctly can be very useful.
SP vs. Physical stats
There are SP and Physical stats that do different things. Physical attack corresponds to physical moves. If you use a physical move like fire punch the damage will also depend on the Pokemon’s attack stat. SP attack corresponds to SP moves it also depends on the Pokemon’s SP attack stat. There is also SP and physical defense. Defense is how well you can resist physical moves, while SP defense is how well you can resist SP moves.
STAB
STAB stands for Same Type Attack Bonus. Basically if a water type Pokemon uses a water type move it will gain a 50% damage increase. So if you have a Pokemon that’s normal type, has a high attack stat, and uses the normal type move giga impact (a move that does a base damage of 150) you can do MASSIVE damage.
Moves
There are three types of damage multipliers in moves alone. First off is super effective moves, which doubles the damage of the move. Super effective can activate when a type attacks a certain type for example a fire type moves attacking a grass type Pokemon. Neutral moves are when a moves type does not “beat” the opposing Pokemon’s type. An example would be ghost type moves attacking electric type Pokemon. Not very effective is when a Pokemon attacks a type that resists its type. An example would be a fire type move attacking a water type Pokemon which cuts the damage in half.
Thank you for reading, and HAPPY EASTER!
