Here to help!
Ms. Woelk is a teacher’s aid for the downstairs teachers at St. Patrick’s. She assists teachers whenever she can, and she does whatever the teachers need her for. I asked her what she normally does for her job, and she said, “It consists of anything from fixing bookshelves, to grading paper, and even substituting when a teacher is gone.” Ms. Woelk said she has no set schedule, but has some jobs that the teachers will normally ask her for.
Why St. Pat’s?
This is Ms. Woelk’s first year here as a teacher at St. Pats. I asked her why she started working here and she said, “I’m working on a teaching degree, and this is a community similar to what I want to work in.” She says she enjoys working with the teachers and students.
Family
Ms. Woelk told me that she was born in Germany, but grew up in Rolla. She has one older sister, and a younger brother. Her sister, Marlena, is a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher at a Catholic school. Her brother, Johannes, is in his last year of college as an undergraduate studying chemistry. Ms. Woelk told me her relationship with her siblings is good. “We like to text her once to twice a week.”
Hobbies
She told me that she likes to read, garden, and hike. She’s hiked in the Arkansas Ozarks, the Rocky Mountains, and even in Switzerland. “I’ll hike anywhere.” She told me her favorite vacation memory is when she went to the North Sea in Denmark. The sun set at about midnight, and it rose at 3 in the morning.
