Hello, it’s me Logan and I’m back to talk about yet another tank. In this article I will talk about one of the most iconic American tanks of World War 2, the M4A3E8, or more commonly known as the ¨Easy Eight¨.
The Easy Eight(M4A3E8) is an American late war medium tank developed to improve the original M4 Sherman medium tank. The Easy Eight was armed with an improved 76mm gun and the Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension system(HVSS). The suspension system gave the tank the nickname ¨Easy Eight¨, for its smooth driving.
Some of you may know the film, Fury. The tank nicknamed Fury was an Easy Eight. In the movie, Fury went on multiple missions and destroyed multiple enemy tanks including the German Tiger 1.
Those were some of the things that an easy eight was capable of. The Easy was relatively cheap to make compared to the German Tiger 1. Thousands of Easy Eights were sent to Europe and there weren’t many Tiger 1s still around to fight them, but every time a tiger showed up, it was going to be one heck of a fight. Although, most of the time if one Easy Eight were to go up against one Tiger 1, the Easy Eight would likely be destroyed because of the Tiger 1s strong armor and powerful 88mm main gun. But if any Easy eight can get itself to the right spot at the right time, it would have no problem taking out a Tiger 1.
Thank you so much for reading my article, this is one of my favorite things to do. If anybody has any suggestions for a vehicle discussion, please email Emerald Press advisor Mrs. Greenway: [email protected]
