This is the 4-H club here at St. Patrick School. First coming to this school in 2000, now an average of five new members show up each school year. They meet up on the second Tuesday of every month during the school year from 3:30-5:30pm and all grades from K-12 can join.
The organizer of the club, Mrs. Doris Backes-Delp, wanted to start this club here at St. Patrick’s because, in her words, “I enjoy being in 4-H, and I wanted the same opportunity for my kids,” The meaning of 4-H is to “learn by doing” says Mrs. Doris Backes-Delp.
Now you may be wondering what 4-H brings to the community. Well, when you are not a clover kid (K-2nd Grader who doesn’t do a project) you will pick a project. On achievement day, typically near the last week of June, you will be judged on your project and could possibly go to the state fair.
There are a total of 10 jobs you could do. Some include: president, vice president, or being in charge of roll call. At the end of each meeting we do different actives from a Christmas party to making Valentine’s Day garlands!
