Road to the Kentucky Derby 2022: Lexington Stakes

The Lexington Stakes is held annually at Keeneland. The stakes are known by most as a last minute way to rack up points, and with the bottom of the leaderboard being so tight this year, it was an important race for several horses. This race offers 20-8-4-2 points to the respective finishers. 

Tawny Port moved toward the front of the pack, while Major General took the lead. In Due Time hung out in the middle of the pack, with Ethereal Road running in the back. At the far turn, Major General remained in the lead, Tawny Port was running in the pack, and Ethereal Road and In Due Time ran side-by-side. On the homestretch, Tawny Port fought Major General for first and won, sending him to the Kentucky Derby. In Due Time and Ethereal Road were right behind them, finishing third and fourth, respectively.
