White Abarrio:

White Abarrio is a rising star on the Kentucky Derby Leaderboard. This colt is an absolute beast on his pedigree. His sire, Race Day, is a son of Tapit. Last year, Tapit produced Essential Quality, who won the Belmont Stakes, was #1 on the 2021 Kentucky Derby Leaderboard, and finished 4th in the 2021 Kentucky Derby.

Moving to his dam’s side, his grandsire is Into Mischief, who produced two Kentucky Derby starters in 2021 (Life is Good and Mandaloun). His dam, Catching Diamonds, still resides at his breeder’s farm, Spendthrift Farm LLC.

This boy originally sold for $7,500 at nine months and then sold again for $40,000 as a two-year-old. He launched his racing career at a maiden special weight in September 2021, where he won. He made his debut on the Kentucky Derby Leaderboard and Churchill Downs in November at the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (Grade 2), where he placed third (behind Smile Happy and Classic Causeway). His most recent win, at the Holy Bull Stakes, has thrown him into the spotlight. Rumor has it that this colt’s next stop is the Florida Derby, a derby prep offering 100 points to the winner. I’m hoping he’ll run in the Fountain of Youth in early March. I’m excited to see where this boy is headed during the derby season.
