Road to the Kentucky Derby 2022: Smarty Jones

Smarty Jones:

Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas annually hosts the Smarty Jones S. inaugurated in 2009. The one-mile race offers 10-4-2-1 points to the first four finishers. In this year’s race, some new names popped up like; Dash Attack, Barber Road, and Ignitis. Immoral was scratched, but the field of thirteen horses was still the largest since the race began. Dash Attack (pictured on left) came out of the gate a little flat-footed, but took the lead later in the race and pulled out a win. Ben Diesel and Ruggs stuck to the front the entire race, but fell behind. It was a very sloppy day at Oaklawn. Our four top finishers were Dash Attack, Barber Road, Ignitis, and Kavod. Dash Attack is currently ranked 9th, Barber Road is ranked 18th, Ignitis is at 28th, and Kavod is currently at 31st.
